Men once sat and ascribed many personalities to the firmament. Animating their lives with myths of heroes and villains. Though its stars had long ago burnt out.
There is indeed a subset of stars that we can observe in the sky, that have died long ago. While the physical star has already undergone supernova, the light it once emitted is still traveling towards us. We have names for them and perceive them as current, but they simply are not physically there anymore. We cannot even know they have died, except retroactively.
But perhaps that does not matter. Its physical presence is simply one dimension of its existence, and so long as it is perceivable in any plane, we can assign it value. This ring captures the value of a star that has already decayed. A star that continues in its attempt to shine bright, while its core has rotted long ago.
There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time.
- David M. Eagleman, Sum
It will serve as a reminder that your deaths may not happen chronologically. You could become recluse, and be forgotten before your physical death. People may mourn a version of you that you no longer exist as. A prompt to consider what remains of you after each passing.

Finishes
Each piece is oxidized and polished by hand to bring engraved details to life. For those drawn to a deeper transformation process, an unpolished black finish is also available—designed to wear, shift, and soften with time, revealing its story through use alone.
- Polished: for vividness of the graphic
- Oxidized: for those who want the blacked out look and those who want to let the natural aging process dictate the polish
Product Care
These rings are durable, but they’re not immortal. They’re a snapshot in time, meant to be worn, loved, and changed alongside you.
Silver, like most things worth owning, changes with time. It reacts to the air, the oils on your skin, the moments you live through. It may shine. It may dull. It may tarnish. It may scratch. It’s not a flaw—it’s the metal remembering.
Any brand promising silver jewelry that “lasts forever” is selling you an idea, not a reality. Sterling silver doesn’t crumble away, but it does shift, oxidize, and evolve. That’s part of the beauty. Each mark, each patina, is a reminder that nothing is still—not you, not the piece, not the world around you.
Some jewelers will coat the metal in a temporarily protective film to limit oxidation for a few months, but those are also impermanent solutions that merely delay the inevitable.
Silver Care Tips
- Tarnish is normal. It’s just silver oxidizing, and it can be rubbed away with a soft cloth if you prefer the shine.
- Avoid chemical cleaners if your piece has intentional darkening (oxidation). Almost all of 4th Death's jewelry makes use of blackening. Submerging a ring in chemical cleaning solutions will strip away the oxidation details.
- Store in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or box, to slow oxidation when not in use.
- Wear it often. Contact with your skin helps keep silver bright. It's almost ironic that the best care is to wear it.
- If needed, polish gently with a silver cloth—never anything abrasive.
